Knowledge and understanding:
Systemic approach to study having as a trace the topics covered in class.
Applied knowledge and understanding:
Transfer the theoretical knowledge to the executive design of building parts by expanding and deepening the topics covered.
Autonomy of judgment:
Critical awareness of the complexity and problems inherent in building design.
Continuous stimulus to direct participation both during exercises and during lessons to form the habit of verbal as well as written communication, and the learning and use of correct and adequate technical language.
Ability to learn:
Formation of a research and learning methodology such as to allow, during the profession, to carry out the assigned tasks in the best possible way.
All exams of the first year Course (or similar).
The course will have the general theme of the year re-reading the construction process of the Millennium Dome in London.
Alternatively, and depending on the number of subscribers, the theme of a small tensile structure-sculpture to be inserted in the historic center of Cagliari can be developed (line p.zza Garibaldi - p.zza Yenne).
In the first hypothesis the general title of the project is:
The constructive path of the Millennium Dome.
In the second: an intervention for the enhancement of an urban space.
Students will be provided with graphic drawings useful for retracing the construction phases of the structure.
The educational Module is constituted by Lectures/Communications and Workshops for total 40 hs. In particular:
LECTURES and COMMUNICATIONS
Are generally holded by the teacher. Some contributes of experts, representatives of public corporations are expected. They will develop deepening of specific topics, like as:
- Examples of shading system or similar (Madrid, Seville, Lisbon, Marrakech, Pécs, Tempio P.);
- Some icons of Contemporary Architecture;
- Tensile structures, their characteristics and typological and constructive variables;
- Examples from the educational activities of previous years.
Are a topic step during the development of the educational course: they are carried out in the lecture hall with groups formed by 3 or 4 students. The groups will be preferably proposed by the students. Students are invited, if possible, to carry out their work in the main in the lecture hall. They must be, for this, equipped with adequate tools and materials. For this reason it's necessary that each component of the group stay connected with all colleagues so that: drawings, models and all relative materials are ever available for workshops, even if one or more components are absent, to assure a regular and constant progress of the work and the review of the teacher and/or tutors.
Verification of learning
The realization of the Maquette is fundamental for the understanding of the executive process: the material and the scale with which it will be made is left free but will in any case constitute an element of evaluation (appropriateness of the representation and coherence between the system of tensile structures and the chosen materials) .
IN ALL CASES:
The study tables must be made only freehand while the choice on the final representation methods is left free.
• 1 Model
• Book summarizing the educational path in exclusively and strictly A3 format (to be delivered for the exam);
• 1 A1 size poster (to be delivered for the exam);
• CD / DVD with all the images of the model: drawings (pdf), relief photos (jpg) and models (jpg) and its phases (jpg);
The graphic drawings must cover all the elements necessary to illustrate the construction process in an exhaustive manner and clearly represent the construction characteristics of the episode.
The composition of the book and the Poster will not be subject to revision but must be presented directly for examination.
The selection of the most significant works will be reported in the Poster.
The papers deemed worthy can be used by any publications of the Faculty.
Given the reduced number of hours available, attendance at the activities is mandatory, therefore attendance will be recorded and a maximum number of hours of absence equal to 20% of the total (8 hours) allowed.
The precise articulation of the activities can be found in the Student Attendance Card.
The model contributes up to max 27/30. Max 3/30 are attributed to the poster.
Honors are given to students who, in addition to having an excellent project, demonstrate that they also know in detail the detailed topics presented with absolute language properties.
