Objectives

- Knowledge and understanding: to demonstrate the technical and scientific knowledge of geomatic surveys with modern methodologies and satellite surveys that allow learners to acquire knowledge and professionalism in the field of modern architectural geomatic survey;
- Knowledge and comprehension skills applied: learners must be able to autonomously plan and plan architectural geomatic surveys, proceed with the execution of the surveys and subsequent processing;
- Communication skills: Among the skills acquired is that of being able to correctly prepare reports on the methods of survey and the results achieved in order to formulate concrete and professional answers;
- Learning skills: learners must be able to develop the skills necessary to undertake more advanced studies concerning the evolution of instrumentation and topographic methodologies.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of Mathematical Analysis and Geometry (necessary for the determination of geometrical entities in the plane and in space) and of Physics (useful course for the terrestrial gravitational field and electro-optical instruments)

Contents

Lectures and exercises aimed at the geomatic survey of a building or a portion of territory.
Recall of treatment of the measures (3 hours) Measurement treatment theory. Recall of fundamental concepts on random variables and statistics on one and several dimensions. Least squares estimation theory.
Instruments for topographic survey (6 hours) Tools for measuring angles and distances. The total station. Tools for satellite positioning of points. GNSS survey Overview of the operation of the terrestrial laser scanner
Methods of surveying topographic their precisions and fields of application Photogrammetric survey (6 hours) Generality and purpose of the method Digital photogrammetry: straightening. 3D model and orthophotos. Project of an architectural photogrammetric survey

Teaching Methods

In order to facilitate and, at the same time, verify the gradual learning process, during the lectures concomitant exercises are planned also in collaboration with the teacher of the Design module. In particular, the following exercises will be assigned: - topographic survey of points with total station and GPS - photogrammetric survey of a facade of a building; - an exercise on the GIS. 20 hours frontal lessons Exercises 10 hours

Verification of learning

At the end of the II semester, at the conclusion of the Topography Module, the final exam will take place which will consist in the discussion of the topics covered during the module and the exercises carried out evaluated from 1 to 10: up to 6 points for adequacy and up to 4 points for the logic followed. The final mark for the integrated course in Surveying and representation of architecture and the environment will be determined by the weighted average (according to the credits for each module) of the marks reported by the student at the end of the two modules.
