Professional status
Master's graduate in ICT and Internet Engineering
The natural employment destination of a Master's graduate in ICT and Internet Engineering are companies, public institutions and research centres operating in the areas of research and development, design, production and management of systems for the processing and conveyance of information and data via the Internet and their use in application systems. These job opportunities relate to companies and bodies operating directly in the ICT sector and in non-ICT sectors that do however require experts in this field for the provision of services and products in other areas, such as agriculture, tourism, transport, industrial production processes and the provision of know-how in complex application domains typical of smart cities.
Industrial firms in Sardinia offer good employment opportunities for Master's graduates of ICT and Internet Engineering, with the island having:
- one of the largest Italian telecommunications companies
- a science and technology park based on ICT and Biotechnologies
- a varied and consolidated system of small- and medium-sized enterprises operating in the sphere of webapp development and management in various application domains, such as: fintech, building control, public transport, industrial systems management and tourism
- companies of national and international relevance that develop solutions for the Internet of Things for different application domains, such as automotive and industry 4.0.
The wide-ranging educational offer focusing not just on Sardinian industry allows the Master's graduate in ICT and Internet Engineering to appeal to companies, research centres and advanced design companies also based outside Sardinia. The wide range of training given also facilitates employment in management positions of significant responsibility as one's career progresses. As with all second-level engineering degrees, students may go on to work freelance as an "engineer" after passing a State exam and registering with the relevant professional association.
