Objectives

Acquisition of basic concepts of fundamental physics and experimental scientific method.

Contents

First part (20 hours)
1 - General electrostatics
2 - Gauss's law
3 - Electric Potential
4 - Capacitors and electric capacitance
5 - Electric current, resistance and circuits

Second part (16 hours)

1 - Magnetic field in vacuum
2 - Magnetic fields and currents
3 - Electromagnetic induction
4 - Magnetism in matter and Maxwell's equations

Third part (12 hours)
1 - Electromagnetic waves
2 - Geometrical optics and images
3 - Interference and diffraction of light

Teaching Methods

48 hours lectures and exercises. Simple practical demonstration of physical phenomena.

Verification of learning

The final exam is a written test with exercises and theory.
