At the end of the course the student will have acquired specific knowledge on the growth systems of microorganisms, both from the experimental (through specific tests in the Laboratory) and the theoretical point of views.
In particular, the student will know the main parameters through which he describes, measures and orients the bacterial growth, as well as know the main mathematical equations used for the kinetic study of microbial growth and the conduction of a conventional biological reactor.
Furthermore, some modern technologies will be described in which biological systems are used for the production of bioproducts and bioenergy even from waste substrates.
No specific pre-requisites are mandatory. However, in order to profitably follow the Course, it is appropriate to have knowledge of General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and General Microbiology.
