Knowledge and understanding
The student must possess:
Adequate knowledge and linguistic-communicative competence (B1 level of QCER), oral and written, and metallurgical language in French, in particular in the phonetics / phonology of morphology;
Solid knowledge of French culture;

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The student must be able to:
Apply their French language skills in oral and written production and understanding;
Know how to apply the theoretical tools for the recognition of phonetic / phonological and morphological specifics specific to the French language;
Know how to perform analysis and synthesis of language problems;
To carry out analysis and synthesis of linguistic issues, especially in the field of interlinguistic contact;
Identify and solve linguistic exchange problems.

Judgment autonomy
The student must have the ability to:
Interpreting with linguistic autonomy the linguistic phenomena and the historical and cultural manifestations of French language and culture, assessing its scope and impact in its various dimensions.
To analyze different types of texts themselves, and to identify their genre, conventions, style, rhetoric and communicative strategies. Judgment autonomy is verified during the exams and during the final test process.
To orient themselves autonomously in the linguistic-philological and historical-cultural context of intercultural mediation, relatively French.

Communicative Skills
The student must:
Have achieved communication skills at oral and written exposure in French.
Being able to interact, or as a mediator, or in situations requiring a French-linguistic competence.

Learning ability
The student must have acquired the cognitive and meta-cognitive strategies that enable him to continue autonomously the French language study.

The French Language I course is a French language course II.

Prerequisites

It is essential that the student possesses - at the beginning of the educational activities - a starting level equal to A2 of the CEFR. The same starting level is required for students not attending teaching activities.
Students with a foreign certification of DELF / DALF level B1 or above will benefit from advantages (as foreseen by the didactic regulation internal to the French language sector and published on the personal pages of the teachers, as well as on the blog of the sector).
In particular, the student presenting an international certification of knowledge of the language (DELF, DALF), corresponding to the required exit level, is exempted from the two parts of grammar and vocabulary. In this way the certification score is canceled by the exoneration of the two aforementioned parties. Instead, the student must compulsorily take the two tests of production écrite and oral compréhension of the partial written test on the scheduled dates.
The starting vote for access to the oral exam will therefore consist of the marks obtained in the EP and the CO, as long as the vote of the EP is not less than 18/30. The positive outcome of this part of the written exam will give access to the oral exam with the teacher.
Only students who present a certification with a score equal to or greater than 75/100 are admitted to the exemption mode.
Students in possession of such certifications are required to present them to the teachers in two original copies with the indication of the matriculation number and the name of the course to which they are enrolled by and no later than April 30 of each year. After this deadline, the student is not entitled to use the certification.
The certification can be presented only and exclusively in the first year of enrollment in the course. No certifications sustained after the first year of enrollment are allowed.
The student in possession of the certification is free to use it to be exempted from the two parts of the partial written test, grammar and vocabulary, with the support of the PE and the CO, or he can choose not to use the certification, supporting in full the written test according to the methods envisaged. Once the decision has been made not to use the certification, even if the test fails, the student can no longer present it.

Contents

At the beginning of the year the students will be divided into two lecture groups followed by two mother tongue CELs. For the subdivisions the student will have to wait for indications published on the personal page of the teacher and on the blog of the sector.

The course is divided into two main parts:
exercises with mother-tongue CEL equal to 130 hours;
French linguistics lessons with the tenured lecturer for 20 hours.

The exercises with native CEL will be modulated as follows:
65% of total hours (equal to 85 hours) in activities of:
oral and written comprehension from the adopted text or from various documents;
oral and written production activities from the adopted text or from various documents;
grammar.

35% of the total number of hours (45 hours for 2 hours per week over the entire academic year) in laboratory activities with exercises on audio documents.

For the topics covered during the CEL exercises, during the academic year, students will receive directions from the first day of activity and will be promptly published on the personal pages of the teacher, the CELs and on the blog of the sector.


The grammatical part will focus on the acquisition of the morpho-syntactic skills required for level B1:

The lessons in French linguistics, which will last 20 hours, will focus on the phonetic, phonological and spelling peculiarities of the French language. In particular, the course will focus on:

main phonetic and distinctive aspects of the French language (open and closed vowels, vowels and nasal consonants);
production organs, articulation points;
orthographic system and phonological system of the French language with particular attention to the prosodic, melodic aspect and to the distinctive character of the same system that manifests itself in particular to the phenomenon of the enchainement, the liaison, the division into rhythmic groups of the French sentence, the accent rhythmic and insistent accent.

French language lessons will be held in the classroom with the help of video-projector for slides projection. During the lessons, the student will have the opportunity to apply the skills acquired on texts proposed in French.

Teaching Methods

Exercises will feature laboratory activities for listening and oral production; Other activities in the classroom for written understanding and the development of lexical and grammar skills. The phonetic course will be held in the classroom. At a first introduction to the phonetic and phonological aspects of the language, they will be able to read and analyze the texts in their original language.
