The course aims at outlining in a diachronic perspective the most significant steps of the Spanish literature through a theme line, which allows comparing the texts belonging to different historical, social and literary contexts.

Teaching Methods


Frontal lectures in the Spanish language, for a total of 60 hours, released in the first semester and divided into three weekly lessons of two hours each.
Each lecture is organized so as to illustrate two texts per week, dedicating 4 of the 6 hours to theoretical and critical aspects, the remaining 2 to group work presentations on given topics, aimed at helping students to develop their skills in applying knowledge and understanding, making judgements, communication and learning.

Verification of learning


Assessing learning:
Oral assessment in Spanish language will be used to test the acquired knowledge and skills.
Students will have to prove:
1) The knowledge of the proposed literary texts and the related cultural historical phenomena (40%)
2) The ability to apply the linguistic and methodological knowledge acquired in the literary analysis (40%)
3) The ability to evaluate the literary texts consciously and critically (20%).

The test score, is awarded by a mark expressed out of 30, taking into account possible mid-term tests, active participation in lectures, group or individual work carried out as reports given during the course.
The ranking rating is fixed between 18/30, given when the knowledge/skills are at least elementary, and 30/30, eventually cum laude, when the knowledge is excellent.

The final mark is awarded taking into account the following elements:
1) Logics and correctness of the procedure identified for the solution of the question
2) Adequacy of the proposed solution in relation to the skills expected at the end of the course
3) Expressive mastery, also with reference to metalanguage
4) Typology of question: basic, essential or complementary notion
5) Ability to focus the topic also chronologically and geographically
6) Critical processing capabilities of concepts.

Necessary condition for achieving an evaluation of 18/30 is the fullfilment of points 1 and 2. Marks higher than 18/30 will be awarded to students who fullfill all of the above listed 6 points.
In order to pass the exam, achieving at least 18/30, students will have to prove sufficient knowledge of the topics related to the History of Spanish Literature, basic knowledge of the chosen texts and critical readings, and capacity to solve the question given by the teacher in a logical, correct and appropriate way to the expected skills.
In order to achieve 30/30 cum laude students will have to prove their having acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics dealt with during the course.
