At the end of the course students will have:
- the notions necessary to identify the distinctive features of texts technical, economic, narrative, journalistic, etc., in order to describe the procedures and methods for their translation;
- good knowledge of the main translation strategies in the various textual typologies.
- skills in producing translations adequate to the level of expected language knowledge.


- Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, SPANISH
- Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (ITALIAN) for foreign students.

- Exceeded Spanish language examination 1.


The course offers students an introduction to the practice of translation of different typologies of texts (narrative, divulgative, legal, tourist, technical, economic, audiovisual, etc.) from Spanish to Italian. During the lessons, a reflection on linguistic-syntactic issues, analysis of various kind of texts, as well as the process of identifying possible translation strategies will be proposed. The theoretical course is accompanied by a translation laboratory with compulsory attendance.

Teaching Methods

Front lessons and translation laboratory.
In addition to the traditional frontal teaching methods, during the course will be employed the Moodle platform with access through the Esse3 credentials (, as it will be illustrated during the first lessons.

Verification of learning

Tests in itinere and written final exam.
-The written test provides the translation and the related commentary of a text belonging to one of the textual typologies analyzed in the classroom.
-The students will be able to attend the final exam once they deliver the translations and the commentaries analyzed during the course.
The final grade will be awarded according to the capacity of producing translations appropriate to the level of the expected language knowledge, the translatory skills acquired, the use of a syntactically correct translation (in Italian) and the translatory commentary (in Spanish).
