- to know the main epistemological and theoretical models of community psychology, with particular reference to those that have contributed to the definition in psychosocial terms of personal identity
- to know the founding ideas of community psychology: context, relationship, otherness, participation/commitment, symmetrical power, empowerment, praxis and consciousness, the construct of sense of community
- use the reference theories, methodologies and tools of the discipline (specific references, in this case, are to participatory research-action and the concepts of social networking and networking) in order to analyze the socio-environmental context and design interventions for prevention and/or promotion of well-being.
The theories of social psychology
Community psychology assumes that people's behaviour can be fully understood if their reference contexts are taken into account. For this reason, will be given central importance to the ideas of relationship, otherness, power, empowerment, praxis and consciousness. These ideas, which have built community psychology over time, bring out the political character of the discipline, understood as the individual's exercise of citizenship and occupation of public space. Consequently, a further objective of the course will be to show how all these assumptions are translated into community psychology practice, which consists in the preparation of interventions to remove inequalities and promote and/or prevent well-being.
University of Cagliari, moreover, could opt for the provision of teaching simultaneously both in attendance and online, thus outlining a mixed teaching that can be enjoyed in university classrooms but at the same time also at a distance. In this case, each student, at the beginning of the semester, can opt, with a binding choice, for in-presence or distance learning. Depending on the availability of the classrooms and the number of students who will opt for in-presence teaching, a shift may be provided for effective classroom access.
