The theories of social psychology

Contents

Community psychology assumes that people's behaviour can be fully understood if their reference contexts are taken into account. For this reason, will be given central importance to the ideas of relationship, otherness, power, empowerment, praxis and consciousness. These ideas, which have built community psychology over time, bring out the political character of the discipline, understood as the individual's exercise of citizenship and occupation of public space. Consequently, a further objective of the course will be to show how all these assumptions are translated into community psychology practice, which consists in the preparation of interventions to remove inequalities and promote and/or prevent well-being.

Teaching Methods

Frontal lessons.

In this case, each student, at the beginning of the semester, can opt, with a binding choice, for in-presence or distance learning. Depending on the availability of the classrooms and the number of students who will opt for in-presence teaching, a shift may be provided for effective classroom access.

Oral examination according to the University's instructions. The test is aimed at ascertaining the acquisition of the expected learning outcomes. In particular, knowledge and understanding of the theoretical models proposed will be assessed; the ability to describe and argue appropriately the contents learned; the ability to reflect critically on concepts; the ability to use the knowledge acquired for the analysis of social contexts and the preparation of prevention and/or welfare promotion programs.
