The course aims to provide an integrated framework of the main pedagogical theories on childhood education. He will carry out a reflection on the main pedagogical issues around the meaning of childhood education and the idea of a boy and girl. The theoretical frameworks of pedagogical and educational care will be proposed in a critical and comparative perspective, with a particular study of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent (Convention on the Rigths of the Child - CRC), aimed at analysis of educational and training needs for an adequate educational and pedagogical intervention. To this end, the knowledge of the socio-pedagogical professional educator and the consequent ability to intervene with children in early childhood contexts will be deepened.
In relation to the Dublin descriptors, at the end of the course the students are expected to achieve the following educational objectives.
1. Knowledge and understanding
Knowledge of the historical developments of philosophical, psychological, pedagogical and socio-anthropological theories and models relating to the study of early childhood. Knowledge and understanding of the main pedagogical and didactic aspects relating to the education of children in early childhood, the structuring of services and spaces, the inclusion and integration of children with disabilities. Knowledge of the main types of services for early childhood present in the regional, national and international context; understanding of the dynamics connected to early childhood education in relation to: the different types of families; socio-environmental, ethnic and cultural factors; the economic and social conditions.
2. Ability to apply knowledge
Ability to use specific knowledge and methodologies in the conception, design and evaluation of playful and educational interventions and projects relating to early childhood, also with reference to the area of disability. Knowledge and ability to use animation, play, storytelling, sensory and motor expressiveness methods and techniques suitable for the harmonious development of the individual child and with the group in a system perspective. Knowledge and ability to apply tools and techniques for observing children in educational contexts.
3. Autonomy of judgment
Ability to observe, collect and interpret data and information useful to allow decisions to be made, aimed at the planning, implementation and evaluation of educational activities by taking a reflective, critical and attentive approach to the specificities of the contexts and, at the same time, constant tension to results oriented to effectiveness.
. Communication skills
Ability to communicate and collaborate in small and large work groups and in interinstitutional networks, knowing how to use an adequate linguistic register and show communicative-relational skills in the phases of planning, implementation, management, and verification of interventions as well as in the ability to return and report the results of the same.
5. Ability to learn
Ability to study attentive, critical and constant, useful and necessary to be able to operate effectively both individually and as members of a team.

The course will develop around the elements that characterize the contemporary family in particular on the role and function of parents in relation to the ecosystems of life of their children; it will reflect on the identities, models and theories of childhood pedagogy.
The idea of contemporary childhood will be deepened, highlighting needs and potential.
To this end, the following focuses will be studied in depth: the educational relationship, socialization, play and the plurality of languages in the nursery, the pedagogical and educational frameworks of work in the nursery (physical and symbolic spaces). It will reflect on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (Convention on the Rigths of the Child - CRC);
The tools and practices of observation will be defined and presented as fundamental elements for educational planning. The following topics will be presented and explored: the pedagogical and professional profile of the educator for children. The 0-6 system from the ECEC perspective. The 0-6 integrated education system in Italy: law 107/2015.

Teaching Methods

If the current conditions remain, as required by the resolution of the board of directors in the session of 28 July 2021, teaching will resume in the presence, but remote delivery will also be ensured, exclusively in synchronous mode (i.e. without guaranteeing the possibility of for the purposes of access to the classroom, depending on the number of students and the capacity of the classroom, access will be limited and students will turn through the Easy Lesson booking system: https: //unica.easystaff. it / AgendaWeb / The booking system will be accessible to all students regularly enrolled, including those enrolled in single courses which can also be accessed via the APP.

Verification of learning

Exam mode.
For attending students there is an on-going assessment through a written online verification test with closed and open questions on the first part of the program. At the end of the course, the final exam will also be held with an oral interview.
Non-attending students will take a single oral exam on the whole program.

The program refers to the academic year 2021/2022. Previously enrolled students can take the exam with the program scheduled for the year of their course, after notifying the teacher.
