Objectives

The course intends to provide a general theoretical picture and the key concepts regarding the basic knowledge on the main inferential mechanisms of the human cognitive system.
The aim is to provide research data and operational tools useful for the understanding of the processes of thought. At the end of the course students will know the fundamental characteristics of cognitive processing in: perception, learning, memory, language, hought, intelligence. Furthermore, they will be able to understand the main theoretical positions and research paradigms wich determined the evolution course of research in these areas.

Prerequisites

The prerequisities are:
- To understand the main ideas of the different theoretical perspectives;
- To understand the methodologically relevant psychological research by examining the most important research.

Contents

The course aims to introduce students to the main topics in general psychology, : perception, attention, memory and learning, thinking and reasoning, language, motivations and emotions. A particular focus will be put on the experimental methodology in General Psychology.

The final evaluation is carried out using an written examination. The evaluation is performed in thirty.
