The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a test that measures, by means of four separate tests (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), the ability of non-native speaking students to use and understand spoken and written English. It is academically oriented and is an essential requirement to enrol in an English-taught undergraduate or postgraduate programme and for admission to American, British, and foreign universities. It is also fully recognised by many Professional Master’s and postgraduate programmes abroad.
As an internationally accepted standard of English proficiency, the TOEFL test is also the most popular certification among companies, multinational corporations, and government agencies for licensing purposes. In addition, many exchange and scholarship programmes use TOEFL scores as a selection tool.
The TOEFL certifies an upper-intermediate/advanced level (B2-C1)1.
The test is administered by the American Educational Testing Service (ETS)2 and the University Language Centre is an official test centre for the TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test) certification. The computer-based tests are held in the multimedia laboratories of the University Language Centre, namely in the Monserrato Laboratory (Axis 4-2nd floor, University Campus of?Monserrato?S.S.554 Km 4,500 junction to Sestu-Monserrato).
1. How to register

a) Through the website: www.ets.org/toefl where you can only pay by credit card. For information on this type of registration, please refer to the newsletter available on the above-mentioned website. .
b) Through the EAS offices (via Pantano 26, Milan, telephone: 02 8901 0893): Monday to Friday from 9 am to 1 pm and from 2:30 pm to 6 pm.
Registration through the EAS Offices
Candidates will have to carry out a pre-registration procedure by connecting to the following page: http://eas-milan.org/index.html where there is a form to be filled in online. For those who do not have an internet connection, some computers are available at the CLA offices in via Porcell 2. It will then be necessary to complete the registration process with payment, which can be made by cash or debit card (by going directly to the EAS offices) or by postal order.
Payment by money order
Payment for the test can only be made by ordinary postal order.
Attention: do not use online money orders. The use of online money orders will result in the loss of your registration and very lengthy refund procedures. The money order must be addressed to: EAS – Tecnitravel – via Pantano 26 – 20122 Milan Reason for payment: TOEFL IBT (first choice date) – Name and Surname
Once the money order has been made, you will need to fax a legible copy of the receipt stamped by the post office, together with a printout of the order confirmation displayed after filling in the pre-registration form. Upon receipt of the documents, the EAS offices will send a return receipt by email.
Attention: if you do not receive any notification within the next 48 working hours, please call the number 02 8901 0893 or send an email at email@example.com to check if your documents have been received.
Filling in the pre-registration form
The online pre-registration form requires you to enter your personal details, the dates on which you are available to take the test, and the codes of the institutions to which you wish to send your test score.
In the pre-registration form, you will be asked to enter at least 5 dates, in order of preference, on which you are available to take the test. As places are limited, please note that the dates you select will be considered binding for your test registration. By convention, the first choice is the candidate’s preferred date; the second choice is a “fallback” option and will only be assigned, automatically and without further consultation with the candidate, if the first choice is not available. The third choice will be considered if the first two choices are not available, and so on, until the fifth. Therefore, please indicate only the dates on which you are actually available to take the test. Once you have registered for the test according to the procedure described above and payment has been made, it will no longer be possible to make any changes (even if the new choice falls within the list of those indicated as alternative choices) unless you pay to reschedule (see Rescheduling or Cancelling your test registration).
The new TOEFL IBT does not allow for the selection of the institutions (to which the test results should be sent) during the test. This must be done before the day of the examination. Therefore, you must enter the codes in the appropriate fields of the pre-registration form.
Please note that during this procedure you will be asked to provide the codes of the institutions to which you wish to send the score. We recommend that you check the names of the institutions on the TOEFL website.
You will also be given a registration code which will allow you to access your result on the TOEFL website and which must be shown at check-in.
