Objectives

The course introduces students to the broad field of management applied to all classes of firms. After giving the overall framework, the course aims to develop within the students the ability to analyze a broad range of approaches to the study of business and management, to outline the main business functions and to critically evaluate the influences of controversial issues in the business environment.
A. Knowledge and understanding
By the conclusion of the course of study, students should:
A1. Define and use business management terms, concepts and theories
A2. Demonstrate an understanding of the effect of an organization’s environment on management functions
A3. Describe business situations using examples
A4. Explain management processes, functions and strategies.

B. Applying knowledge and understanding

By the conclusion of the course of study, students should:
B1. Demonstrate the ability to apply management concepts and processes to real-world management situations;
B2. Demonstrate the ability to apply management concepts and processes to build and manage a start-up;
B3. Recognize and apply the skills necessary for carrying out effective management decision-making and strategic management planning

C) Judgment autonomy
C.1. Solve problems and critically analyze managerial problems;
C.2. acquire, analyze and interpret with autonomy every useful information to formulate a personal evaluation about alternative strategies and the role and relevance of management.

D. Communication skills
D1. Demonstrate effective written and oral presentation skills in articulating management concepts.

E. Learning ability

E1. Development of knowledge necessary for the Government and management of the problems of enterprises

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of economics: market structure (monopoly, oligopoly, perfect competition); resource allocation; elasticity of demand.

Teaching Methods

Teaching will be delivered in person. The lessons can be integrated with audiovisual materials and streaming.

Teaching methods include formal lectures as well as the discussion of short cases and exercises.

Verification of learning

The final exam consists of a written test on the topics covered by the course:
