Degree cum laude in Environmental Engineering at the University of Cagliari; PhD in Geoengineering at the University of Cagliari in 2001; She was visiting researcher at the Department of Hydraulic, Maritime, Environmental and geotechnics engineering of Padua University and at the Department of Waste Management of the Universität für Bodenkultur – Vienna. Contract Researcher (2001-2003) and afterwards Research Fellow at the University of Cagliari, where since 2015 she is Associate Professor in Sanitary-Environmental Engineering.
Her research activity is mainly focused on solid waste treatment, remediation of contaminated soils, and wastewater treatment, particularly on the following research topics: CO2 Mineral Sequestration through accelerated carbonation of alkaline residues; hydrothermal carbonization of organic waste; remediation of heavy metals contaminated soils by phytoremediation; solid waste mechanical-biological pretreatment, anaerobic digestion of solid waste; optimization and control of biological wastewater treatment plants; biological treatment of wastewater containing bio-recalcitrant organic substances, advanced process for nitrogen removal.
She is author of 120 papers, 32 of which on peer-reviewed international journals and she is referee for several international journals.
